The Celle State Stud owned Hanoverian premium stallion Dr. Watson (by Diamond Hit x Florestan) will no longer be standing at stud. The stallion had to be castrated following a colic attack a week ago.
Bred by Nicole Wanning, the 5-year old dark bay Dr. Watson is by Diamond Hit out of Florentina H (by Florestan x Sunset Boulevard xx).
He became a premium stallion at the 2012 Hanoverian Stallion Licensing in Verden, Germany, and was acquired at auction by the Celle State Stud for 220,000 euro. He was stationed at the Roydorf stallion centre.
A week ago Dr Watson suffered a severe colick attack and had to be transported to the equine clinic in Hanover. The horse was operated on and during surgery the veterinarians discovered he suffered from inguinal hernia. The only way to save the horse was to castrate him. (eurodressage)
